"REDISTRIBUTING ALGORITHMS AND SHANNON'S ENTROPY APPLIED ON TEMPERATURE DATA IN FIRE EXPERIMENTS"

ÖZET: Since there is no universal formula for the entropy, the existing literature deals with a variety of formulas which are adequate for specific phenomena but not relevant for others. The main difficulty is to establish algorithms which generally work for a given phenomenon, in order to determine the underlying probabilities associated to the time series (the collected raw data). Such algorithms exist for time series, however the nature of the process under consideration matters and we have found only few published papers which study the fire hazards.

As a new path for the research of fire, we bring into discussion the advantages and the failure of known algorithms when applied to fire data and suggest slight modifications of practical interest for further research. We investigate how Shannon’s entropy changes when the distribution probability is modified by means of redistributing algorithms.
