Cerrahi Tıp Bilimleri Bölümleri; on üç Anabilim Dalı ile bunların içinde yer alan bilim dallarından oluşmaktadır.

Cerrahi Tıp Bilimleri, on üç Anabilim Dalında çalışan toplam 76 öğretim üyesi ve bir uzman doktor ile Mersin Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencileri ve uzmanlık öğrencilerine yönelik, temelde çekirdek eğitim Müfredatını baz alan tıp metodolojisine uygun bir şekilde en iyi teorik ve pratik eğitim ve öğretimi vermeye çalışırken, bir yandan da teşhis-tedavi ve hasta bakımı hizmetlerini kusursuz yürütmenin çabası içindedir. Bu sağlık hizmeti görevini, bölüme bağlı anabilim dallarındaki 67 uzmanlık öğrencisi ve altı yan dal uzmanlık öğrencisi kadrosu ile birlikte yerine getirirken, toplam 265 adet yatak ile yataklı servis hizmeti sunmaktadır. Ayrıca, Cerrahi Tıp Bilimleri Bölümüne bağlı Anabilim Dallarında görevli ve alanında ulusal ve uluslararası bilimsel platformlarda fakültemizi başarı ile temsil eden öğretim üyeleri ve uzman doktorlar haftada toplam 4700 ve ayda 18800 civarında hastaya ayaktan poliklinik hizmeti vermektedir. Bununla beraber haftada 500, ayda 2000 özellikli ameliyat toplam on iki ameliyat odasında bu başarılı ve deneyimli ekip tarafından en son teknoloji kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmektedir. Cerrahi Tıp Bilimleri Bölümüne bağlı Anabilim Dallarında görevli öğretim üyeleri ve uzman doktorlar 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim döneminde uluslararası dergilerde yayınlanmış 80 ve ulusal dergilerde yayınlanmış 88 adet araştırma makalesi ve olgu sunumu ile araştırma ve bilime de katkı sağlamaktadırlar.
